Your Pathologist

Your pathologist is J. B. Askew Jr., M.D.
Dr. Askew is a board certified pathologist in private practice in Houston, Texas, with more than 25 years of experience. Dr. Askew has a special interest in Breast Pathology and has provided Pathology leadership for the continuing development of the comprehensive breast center services in a large (500-bed) acute care hospital in Houston. In addition to speaking to community groups, Dr. Askew is a speaker at national meetings of physicians and medical professionals to promote the interdisciplinary approach to breast disease, especially breast carcinoma. While speaking at community classes on breast cancer, he was astonished by the number and level of questions about the pathology report that he received from breast cancer patients in the audience. Dr. Askew realized that something very important was missing in the understanding of these patients. They needed an explanation of how their diagnosis was determined, not in clinical language, but in terms that they could understand and the significance to them personally of the information in the pathology report. Hence, Breastpath.com.
